Admission Information and Application Procedures for High School at Large (Visiting Students)

High School juniors and seniors who are in good standing can have the opportunity to earn college credits by attending Chicago State University as a High School-at-Large (Visiting) student. Participating students may register for one lower-division course per semester. In order to be admitted to the university, students must complete the High School-at-Large application and submit the following requirements:

  • High School transcript – (minimum required GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale)
  • ACT/SAT score (strongly recommended but not required)
  • Letter of recommendation from a school counselor
  • Personal statement – discuss your interest in a college readiness program and its impact on your educational goals
  • $25 Application fee

The application and documents can be mailed to the Office of Admissions at the address below or scanned (not photographed) and sent via email to: ug-admissions@csu.edu  Once the application is completed and reviewed, the University will confirm an admission decision via mail and email.

High School-at-Large students are not eligible for AP/IB course credit evaluation or financial aid. Please note that university placement exams are required for some courses. Reference the university’s academic catalog or course schedule bulletin on our website for more information.
