Associate and Assistant Dean's Profiles

Dr. Kimberly Edwards-Underwood is the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Policy for Dr. Kimberly Edwardsthe College of Education at Chicago State University.  She oversees various aspects of academic affairs within the college and teaches graduate- and doctoral-level courses in higher education administration and educational leadership. She also manages accreditation efforts, as the CAEP/NCATE coordinator. Previously, she served as the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Policy, addressing student concerns, overseeing policy implementation, and serving as the college grievance officer. Dr. Edwards-Underwood also served as the co-chair of the Chicago State University Diversity and Inclusion Council and currently serves as the Chair of the College of Education Diversity Committee. She earned her doctorate at the University of Illinois at Chicago, with an emphasis in policy studies in urban education. Her research interests include critical multiculturalism, organizational diversity socialization and culturally responsive pedagogy and practice.

 Dr. Jamilah R. Jor'danDr. Jamilah R. Jor’dan is the Interim Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Services for the College of Education and Associate Professor in the Department of Early Childhood and Bilingual Education at Chicago State University.  She provides student support and serves as the college grievance officer.  She has served as chair of the Chicago State University’s Head Start Advisory Board and is a member of the university’s budget committee.  Dr. Jor’dan is past vice-president of the governing board for the National Association for the Education of Young Children and a trustee for Children’s Home and Aid.  She earned her doctorate at Loyola University Chicago in Research Methodology/Human Development.  Her research interests include community violence, family engagement, leadership and family strengthening practices and early care and education program quality improvement.
