Curriculum and Foundations

There are three concentration areas in Curriculum and Foundations:

  1. M.S. Ed Curriculum and Instruction - Adult Education
  2. M.S. Ed Curriculum and Instruction - Secondary Education
  3. M.S. Ed Curriculum and Instruction - Elementary Education

The Master's of Science in Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction - Adult Education concentration provides extensive preparation in curriculum development, and teaching and learning strategies as part of an overall effort to improve instruction. The Adult Education concentration prepares professionals to work with and teach adults in a variety of contexts and settings. A key objective in adult education is to develop programs to meet the needs of the individuals. Careful attention is paid to reviewing previous experience and relevant educational experience.

The Master's of Science in Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction - Secondary Education concentrationprovides extensive preparation in curriculum development, and teaching and learning strategies as part of an overall effort to improve instruction. The Secondary Education concentration is designed for experienced teachers, administrators, curriculum specialists and educational consultants to prepare them with in-depth study and practical experience in the development of pedagogically sound curriculum and instructional programs in secondary education. This concentration places special emphasis on the study of teaching modalities, curriculum development, technology integration, integrated curriculum and collaborative inquiry.

The Master's of Science in Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction - Elementary Education concentrationis to provide extensive preparation in curriculum development, and teaching and learning strategies as part of an overall effort to improve instruction. The Elementary Education concentration is designed for experienced teachers, administrators, curriculum specialists and educational consultants to prepare them with in-depth study and practical experience in the development of pedagogically sound curriculum and instructional programs in elementary education. This concentration places special emphasis on the study of effective teaching strategies, curriculum development, technology-integrated curricula and collaborative inquiry.
