About TRIO

In 1965,the U.S. Congress established a series of programs to aid potential first-generation, low-income Americans in entering and graduating post secondary education under Title IV of the Higher Education Act. TRiO programs help students overcome class, social and cultural barriers to higher education by providing a myriad of services, from 8th grade to post graduate. Chicago State University is one of over 1,000 higher education institutions and agencies offering Federal TRiO Programs, funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Currently, CSU offers TRiO programs dedicated to providing access to post secondary education opportunities for high school students and adults.
