Chicago State University Welcomes Latino Nation

CHICAGO, IL - As a national discussion on issues in the Latino community heats up, Chicago State University welcomed a wide array of Latino leaders to the Jones Convocation Center on Saturday April 6, 2013 for Latino Nation: Beyond the Numbers.

Panels moderated by journalists and commentators Tavis Smiley and Fernando Espuelas, in partnership with the William C. Velásquez Institute, featured a wide array of Latino leaders from the world of politics, business, journalism and education for a frank discussion of the challenges and opportunities facing the 50 million Latinos in the United States.

Chicago State University President Dr. Wayne D. Watson gave a warm welcome to the morning panel and CSU Student Trustee Stephanie Sanchez served on the afternoon panel.

"We are proud to host Latino Nation, which gives us yet another opportunity to showcase the Chicago State campus as a place where people come together to learn from each other and discuss meaningful solutions to problems we collectively face," Dr. Watson said. "The CSU family is particularly proud to have Trustee Sanchez as part of the panel discussion. Stephanie is an excellent representative of the high quality of the student body here at CSU."
