CSU Makes Pitch for Obama Library

Representatives from the faculty, student body and administration of Chicago State University recently attended a hearing of the House Executive Committee in downtown Chicago to make a pitch for why CSU would be the best home for the Obama Presidential Library.

CSU was represented by Board of Trustees Chairman Anthony Young, Student Government Association President Dennis Johnson and education professor Deborah Lynch. The committee was called to hear testimony on legislation that would allocate $100 million to the eventual sight of the library.

"The legacy of Barack Obama has been and will continue to be one of restoring hope in America. So we feel it is only fitting that the physical symbol of that legacy, his Presidential Library, is built in the community where his message of hope first took shape," Chairman Young said.
