Post Baccalaureate Licensure Programs (Non-degree)
Admission criteria
For admission to a post-baccalaureate certificate program, a student must have earned a minimum of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of a 2.0 GPA in the last 60 credits (currently, certificates for undergraduate students are considered minors). Completion time is determined by the amount of transfer credit accepted by the program.
Students must achieve a 3.0 or better GPA in their Education/Professional courses.
Post-Baccalaureate Lisensure/Non-Degree (Focus) for Bilingual/Elementary Education Endorsement for Candidates Seeking Initial Teaching License
The program provides individuals holding a baccalaureate degree the opportunity to complete program requirements needed to earn Illinois Teacher Licensure for Bilingual Elementary Education. Program completers qualify for an initial Illinois License with an Elementary Endorsement and ESL or BIL Approval. Successful completion of the Illinois Basic Skills/Test of Academic Proficiency is required for program admission. Certificate completion requires the passing of the Illinois Content Area Test for Elementary Education and Assessment of Professional Teaching Test.
Taking licensure methods courses requires that all general education and professional education courses required for undergraduate Teacher Licensure Program be completed and that the teacher education candidate be admitted to the College of Education with an 3.0 GPA.
