Accreditation/Approvals

All of our programs are approved by the Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Board of Higher Education. Special professional organizations and associations (SPOs and SPAs) for the various content areas recognize education programs in the Colleges of Education and the Arts and Sciences.

Chicago State University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (NCA) of Colleges and Schools.

All licensure programs are approved by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).

All programs, with national professional association standards, are in full compliance.

EdD in Education Leadership was approved by IBHE in June 2004 and by NCA in April 2005.

ISBE approved the Superintendent Endorsement Program in February 2007 to add to Type 75 Licensure for doctoral students.

The Master’s of Science in Library Science degree is accredited by the American Library Association (ALA)

The Council on Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Related Professions (COAPRT) accredits the Recreation program.
