The Department of Health Information Management (HIM) appreciates your visit to our
webpage. Thank you for considering Chicago State University to pursue a career in
health information management. This is an exciting time to be in the HIM profession
given the increased focus on health information technology and the change to ICD-10
coding.
A career in health information offers a challenging, exciting and rewarding career choice. Students are prepared to assume employment in a variety of traditional and non-traditional organizations. Graduates completing the program are eligible to sit for the national certification exam of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) whereupon completion can become a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
Program Accreditation
The Health Information Administration program at Chicago State University is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).
