CSU COVID-19 Confirmed Cases

April 1, 2020

Dear Chicago State University Community,

Chicago State University has been informed of a few confirmed cases of COVID-19, involving students and an employee. These are the first confirmed cases with a connection directly to the University.

Unfortunately, one of these students has passed away due to complications related to COVID-19. It is our responsibility to maintain the health privacy of all individuals and for this reason, the University cannot provide additional details.

Chicago State University is committed to ensuring the well-being of the campus community by taking actions in accordance with guidance from public health officials. We have and will continue to make every effort to inform those individuals who might have been at risk of an exposure. As the COVID-19 pandemic spreads, we anticipate that our University will be among those that will experience additional confirmed cases in the days ahead.

All members of the University Community should contact Chicago State University if they are diagnosed with COVID-19 by a medical professional. Students should email coronavirus@csu.edu, faculty should inform their academic dean, and employees should contact their direct supervisor.

The CSU COVID-19 webpage continues to hold the latest University resources and information about the steps the University is taking in response to the pandemic.

As a reminder, all students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to follow CDC guidance on how to protect yourself. Continue to practice social distancing, wash your hands, and seek immediate medical attention if you or a family member become ill.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the members of our campus community affected by COVID-19, along with their family and friends. These are challenging times for us all, so please stay well.

Sincerely,
