Reducing Barriers in an E-Learning Environment

“A collaborative effort”

Stack of Books

Learning accommodations are intended to provide equal access to education by removing barriers for students with documented needs.  Accommodations must be reasonable and they should not diminish the expectation of knowledge or skill.

Today's technology provides a lot of resources and accessibility tools to help students navigate the E-Learning environment.

If you believe that you may need accommodations, please visit and explore the Abilities Office website

Tips for those experiencing visual, auditory and processing diversity:

  • Request and review your professor’s lecture recordings and/or notes
  • Turn on closed caption for lectures
  • Adjust personal settings on computer to adjust for contrast, screen brightness and volume
  • Use dictation software
  • Set timers for yourself

If you have additional concerns that were not addressed above, please use the following link here to request 1-on-1 consultation from the Abilities Office
