Chicago State University Students Awarded Scholarships in Physical Education and Recreation Fields

Chicago State University proudly announced this week that three outstanding local students attending CSU this fall were recently honored to receive scholarships in the Physical Education and Recreation field.

Brian Turner and Ron Carone will each receive scholarship money towards their education from the Illinois Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. The IAHPERD scholarships are awarded to outstanding junior and senior applicants who are majoring in health, physical education, dance or recreation. They will be officially honored at the IAHPERD state convention in November.

In addition, Antonio Washington was awarded a scholarship through the National Recreation and Parks Association in recognition of his continuous extraordinary community service and contributions to the field. The scholarship will provide Mr. Washington with the opportunity to explore the operation of the National Recreation and Park Association and its governing bodies at the 2013 NRPA Congress & Exposition.

All three students expressed gratitude to the awarding agencies as well as Chicago State University and the Athletic Department.
