WATCH: Chicago State University Student Talks Solutions to Gun Violence on MSNBC

Chicago State University Student and Community Activist Dennis Johnson recently represented the University well when he appeared on the Melissa Harris Perry show on MSNBC to help guide a discussion on gun violence in America. Johnson discussed the root problems of gun violence often overlooked by traditional media outlets, including the profits reaped by the gun manufacturing industry.

"Violence will never cease until we find a way to make money out of peace," said Johnson, a member of the Black Youth Project. When asked by Harris-Perry about the role of guns in his life, he responded that they're readily available, and cheap-but come in from the outside. "I don't know one black supplier, or engineer, or creator of guns," he said.

Johnson continues to be an effective advocate in the struggle against senseless violence and has taken his message to other media outlets including the Cliff Kelly Show on WVON Radio. Click here for more detail.
