Underground Pipe Bursts on CSU Campus
Immediate Steps Taken to Ensure the Safety and Comfort of Students

CHICAGO, IL (November 24, 2017) - As a result of an underground pipe bursting, the CSU Student Union Building and the Residence Hall are presently without heat or hot water. These buildings are temporarily closed until the problem is corrected.

“The pipe burst at approximately 2:30 this afternoon,” said Monique Horton, facilities director. “We immediately made plans to transport students to warm and safe accommodations.”

“The welfare of our students is our number one priority,” said Dr. Rachel Lindsey, interim president. “We will work diligently to resolve this problem and to minimize any inconvenience this occurrence may cause our faculty, staff and, of course, our students.”

Students are being provided housing at surrounding hotels. Horton said she expects the problem to be resolved over the next few days at which time, both buildings will be reopened and students will be able to return to their respective dormitory. Students with questions should contact Tim Lee, director of housing and residence life at (773)995-2002.
