Welcome to Chicago State University's Office of the Provost of Academic Affairs. It is my pleasure to help the students, faculty, and staff here to build a community that is dedicated to vigorous scholarship, strong relationships, and above all, meaningful growth.
Vigorous scholarship runs through the veins of this institution. Since its inception as a teacher training school, Chicago State University has been dedicated to deepening our understanding of how to prepare minds for the challenges they will invariably face. Properly equipped, we believe any student who possesses a desire to succeed in this world can do so.
Strong relationships are also deeply important to us at Chicago State University. To build strong minds is only half the task at hand. In order to prepare students for the journey ahead, we encourage every one of them to build connections with others, and to nurture those relationships. We do not believe that pondering the universe in solitude makes for a complete life; rather, it is made by working with others, sharing talents and resources, and building community.
Meaningful growth is perhaps the most difficult of our goals because it comes at the greatest cost – but holds the greatest reward. Here at Chicago State University, we provide students with a wealth of opportunities to succeed – between the classes they take, the professors they meet, the texts they read, and the work they do – but it is up to them to dedicate themselves with sincerity and honesty. And it is our greatest joy to see them do so and succeed.
As Provost, I am responsible for the general supervision of the Division of Academic Affairs and the development and implementation of all academic policies at Chicago State University. Specifically, I serve the university by ensuring the quality of the following:
- Programs of instruction and research;
- The review and approval of all academic programs;
- Student learning in undergraduate and graduate education.
- The appointment, promotion, and compensation of all faculty; and
- The development and implementation of all academic policies.
I encourage you to use the resources and links found on this page to help you in your endeavors, be they in learning, teaching, or research.
