East Chicago Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the School City of East Chicago and Chicago State University's College of Education is a strategic initiative to address teacher shortages in underserved communities. It targets employees with emergency teaching permits or working as paraprofessionals and aides, helping them pursue a bachelor's degree and teaching licensure by covering all costs. As the Education Preparation Provider, CSU's College of Education is committed to training future teachers. Launching in Fall 2024, the partnership aims to increase the number of certified teachers and improve education in these communities. This collaboration demonstrates a mutual commitment to advancing high-quality, accessible teacher preparation.
