Meet Dr. Brandle S. Blakely, Pharm.D, BCPS, Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Brandle Blakely is one of the newest additions to the prestigious faculty in the CSU College of Pharmacy. She joined the Chicago State faculty in the summer of 2019. Her story is one that displays how the outreach to the youth of Chicago can steer careers into those of awesome successes.
In 2007, as a teenager, she was in the World Language and International Studies Program, at Morgan Park High School which is a gifted, college preparatory program, which emphasizes fluency in a foreign language along with the development of international communication skills and understanding. Brandle was invited to a summer camp as a child, where she began to develop her interest in technology. In high school she completed Midwestern University Career Explorer's Pharmacy Program where she was exposed to the field of pharmacy. Her interest became a passion that continued when she started to work as a Pharmacy Technician. She went on to become a Pharmacist and ultimately, a Clinical Assistant Professor where it all began for her, at Chicago State University.
Dr. Blakely is a graduate of the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa where she received her Undergraduate Degree in Interdepartmental Studies, focusing in Health Sciences in 2012 and her Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree in 2016. She also completed a teaching certificate program at Midwestern University College of Pharmacy, Downers Grove, Illinois in 2017. She completed her residency as a Pharmacist at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois in 2017. She went on to work as a Clinical Pharmacist at the University of Chicago Medical Center at Ingalls Memorial, in Harvey, Illinois. There she also mentored pharmacy residents as a Preceptor, teaching and monitoring the hands-on activities, patient care and medical staff interaction performed by the students. After two years at Ingalls, she decided to join the faculty here at Chicago State.
Congratulations on your success, Dr. Blakely and welcome to CSU!
