1. How did you start your pharmacy journey? |
When I was 10 years old, I used to help my mother sell medicines in our family own
Drug Store back in Sierra Leone. My mother used to have twenty patients a day. I remember
when one patient came to my mom, who was sick. I was so scared. My mother told me
to take his blood pressure. I said, “OK.” When I put my hand on his forehead, his
warm body sucked me in like a current. His body was hot as boiling water. I took cold
water and put it on his forehead so that his temperature could drop. His heart was
beating like a drum. I prepared the medication and other treatments such as putting
a dress on his open wound and bandaging his hand for him. Being around my mother treating
patients has greatly impacted my life. At an early age, I began my experience to become
a pharmacist. Upon arriving in the United States, my main goal was to go to school
and become a successful Pharmacist. Pharmacy school was very challenging for me, but
I never gave up on my dream. But thank God, my family, friends, and all the CSU-COP
staff who helped and guided me through this journey to be a successful Pharmacist. |
