Orientation Overview

Orientation Day Logistics

Students and families will check in for orientation between 8:30 am and 9:00 am in New Academic Library Auditorium on the 4th floor. Students must attend orientation before they can register for classes. This includes transfer freshmen. Students are not allowed to leave orientation early. Students should plan to attend a day when his/her schedule permits to stay for the entire time. The orientation program will start promptly at 9:00 am. Depending on your registration appointment, students may be on campus until 5:00 pm. Fall New Student Orientation is a one-day orientation (may include a second day depending on circumstances) that has been designed to help with your transition to college. Students will get information needed to complete their enrollment process including information on financial aid, registration, campus life, and more. Students will meet with advisors and register for classes on that afternoon. Some registration appointments may be the next day. It is best to register for New Student Orientation early to secure a same-day registration appointment. Students will be emailed their registration appointments prior to the event date. 

While students are waiting on their registration appointments, they will be able to meet with their financial aid counselor and finalize other campus business.

Registration

Students will meet with an academic advisor to select classes during the afternoon of their orientation date.  Some registration appointments may be next day.

Placement Exams

Please note that testing is required for all freshmen and some transfer students.  Students must take placement exams before orientation.  Students will not be allowed to register for classes until all necessary placement testing requirements have been completed.  Students do not need an appointment to take placement exams.  Exams are available on a walk-in basis Tuesday through Thursday. Testing times are 9:30am and 11:00am. You are encouraged to arrive no later than 15 minutes before the scheduled test time.  For more information on placement exams and a full schedule, please go to here

Parking

Participants should park in lot A1 or A2 (Community Lane).  When entering campus, please tell gate attendant that you are attending Orientation.  View the campus map and directions to campus by clicking here
