Crystal Barnes has established a distinguished 30-year career in the film industry. Her academic journey began with acting studies at Temple University, which she later advanced at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts. Following a successful 15-year on-screen career, Crystal transitioned in 2003 to establish Ark Productions, a film production company. Throughout her career, Ms. Barnes has produced over 20 independent projects, showcasing a wide array of formats, including short films, commercials, and live theater in Chicago. Her directorial debut occurred in 2019 with the release of the feature film "The Law of Moises." Currently, she is developing a dramatic television series and a stage play that highlight the contributions of Black women during World War II. Additionally, Crystal serves as the Film & TV Workforce Director at the Illinois Film Office, reflecting her dedication to fostering talent within the industry.
