India Nicole Burton received her MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Nebraska–Omaha. She is an award-winning Chicago-based director, playwright, deviser, and producer. She has been recognized through programs such as the National New Play Network (NNPN) Producer in Residence and the NNPN Bridge Program Grant. Her play Panther Women: An Army for the Liberation received an NNPN Rolling World Premiere, was nominated for two Jeff Awards (2024), and two Chicago Black Excellence Awards. Burton was a 2020–21 Room in the House Fellow at The Karamu House and is part of TCG’s 2024–25 Rising Leaders of Color. She is a semi-finalist for the Princess Grace Award, a resident playwright at Chicago Dramatists, an NNPN board member, and Assistant Professor of Theatre at Chicago State University.
