President Watson Meets with Cook County Recorder

Chicago State University President Dr. Wayne D. Watson and Cook County Recorder of Deeds Karen Yarbrough meet recently in the Recorder's office for an informal discussion aimed at strengthening the partnership between CSU and the County Recorder's office.

Dr. Watson and Recorder Yarbrough discussed numerous issues including CSU's ongoing plans for a west side campus expansion as well as programs run by the County Recorder aimed at helping homeowners avoid fraud.

Dr. Watson even had a chance to sign himself up for a new Property Fraud Alert program online. The automatic alert system helps homeowners stay informed about any documents filed related to their home or property they own. Property fraud, particularly targeted at senior citizens, has in recent years become one of the fastest growing financial crimes in the nation.

"I applaud my good friend Karen Yarbrough on the wonderful job she is doing to protect homeowners in Cook County and I look forward to helping her spread her message on combating fraud within the communities CSU serves," Dr. Watson said. Dr. Watson also invited Yarbrough to spread the word on her new program at an upcoming Jazz in the Grazz performance, held every Wednesday at 5:30pm on the CSU campus grounds.
