CSU, Harper College Launch Diversity Partnership
T
wo Chicago State University graduates will become Faculty Fellows at suburban Harper
College under a new partnership between the two institutions that aims to increase
faculty diversity and give recent graduates valuable classroom experience.
Recent CSU graduates Oubria Tronshaw, who teaches English, and Darnell Windmon, who
teaches mathematics, will begin as instructors in a phased in program which allows
them to start their teaching careers with a focus on early professional development
before taking on a full academic workload next semester.
Harper College approached CSU about the program as a means to address the changing
demographics of their community college district and diversify their faculty. For
CSU graduates, it presents a unique opportunity to gain classroom experience immediately
and to take advantage of mentoring within the program.
This is the first year CSU will send Faculty Fellows to Harper with both schools looking
to expand the program in the future.
