Chicago State University Engages in 2024 AISLE Conference
The 2024 AISLE Conference, organized by the Association of Illinois School Library Educators (AISLE), was held from Thursday to Saturday, November 7-9, at the Tinley Park Convention Center in Tinley Park, IL. This year's theme, "L.E.A.D.: Librarians - Educating, Advocating, Making a Difference," highlighted AISLE’s dedication to empowering library professionals through opportunities in education and advocacy.
Chicago State University (CSU) was well represented by both current students and alumni from the Library and Information Science (LIS) program within the Department of Computing, Information and Mathematical Sciences, and Technology (CIMST). CSU LIS students Zerdali Jones and Hali Lewis volunteered at the conference, supporting various sessions and connecting with industry professionals. CSU alumna Danielle Baker also contributed by co-leading a session on strategies for supporting diverse learners in the library, offering valuable insights on inclusive library practices.
The conference served as a platform for professional growth, collaboration, and knowledge exchange, enhancing leadership skills among attendees. Participants from CIMST’s LIS program found it to be an enriching experience that underscored the essential role of librarians in education and advocacy.
