On Thursday, February 20, 2025, Chicago State University proudly celebrated its expanding partnership with ComEd during the ComEd Scholars Recognition Event. This prestigious event honored outstanding students pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Physics, and Business.
In the second cohort of the program at CSU, four exceptional Computer Science students—Boris Mojsa, Yonathan Getachew, Kamia Johnson, and Osbaldo Gonzalez—were awarded ComEd scholarships, marking a significant expansion of the program. The ComEd Scholars Program aims to enhance access to STEM careers by providing scholarships to local university students. These scholars also benefit from mentorship opportunities with ComEd professionals and can apply for internships with ComEd and its parent company, Exelon.
The event was attended by ComEd CEO Gil Quiniones, Sonja Feist-Price, Provost of Chicago State University, and several other key delegates. Notably, CSU alumni now working at ComEd were also present, underscoring the strong connection between CSU and ComEd.
This growing partnership is a testament to the shared commitment to empowering students, creating pathways to success in STEM fields, and fostering opportunities for students to thrive in the workforce. The recognition of these scholars reinforces the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in advancing student success.
