On Thursday, October 16, 2025, undergraduate and graduate students from Chicago State University (CSU) joined Dr. Mohammad Abdus Salam, Professor and Chair of the Department of Computing, Information and Mathematical Sciences, and Technology (CIMST), along with Professor Dr. Jan-Jo Chen and Prof. Melvin Miller, at the IEEE Region 4 Meeting on Intellectual Property and Quantum. The event took place at 200 South Wacker Drive, 4th Floor, Discovery Partners Institute, Chicago, IL.

Titled “Celebrate Intellectual Property and Quantum,” the event was a collaborative celebration of intellectual property and quantum innovation, co-hosted by IEEE and the Illinois Intellectual Property Alliance (ILIPA). It brought together a diverse community of patent attorneys, IP professionals, quantum researchers, engineers, business executives, students, and academics for an engaging evening of professional networking and knowledge exchange.

Two insightful panel discussions explored the intersection of intellectual property, patents, quantum technology, and innovation, offering valuable perspectives on the emerging trends shaping the future of science and technology. Representatives from IEEE Women in Engineering also shared remarks highlighting the growing role of women in STEM fields.
During the event, CSU participants engaged in meaningful discussions with representatives from various professional organizations, receiving warm invitations for future collaboration. These new connections present valuable opportunities for industry engagement, academic partnerships, and research exchange, reinforcing CSU’s ongoing commitment to professional growth, innovation, and student success.

The CSU delegation returned inspired and motivated to continue advancing academic and professional development across the campus community.
