Chicago State University’s Department of Computing, Information and Mathematical Sciences, and Technology (CIMST) participated in the IEEE International Real Time Communications Conference and Expo 2026, held September 22–23 at Hermann Hall on the Illinois Institute of Technology campus in Chicago.
The annual RTC Conference and Expo brings together professionals from industry and academia—including software developers, network engineers, researchers, educators, students, entrepreneurs, and business leaders—to exchange ideas and explore emerging developments in the rapidly evolving field of real-time communications.
Representing Chicago State University, two Computer Science graduate students presented research posters developed under the supervision of Dr. Mohammad Abdus Salam, professor and chair of CIMST.

Ozgur Gurbuz presented “Integrating Blockchain and AI for Secure and Scalable Financial Transaction Monitoring.” His research explored the integration of blockchain and artificial intelligence to enhance the security, efficiency, and scalability of financial transaction-monitoring systems.

Adams Dari presented “Your Call Won’t Fail: AI-Driven Predictive and Location-Aware Quality Management for Real-Time Communications.” His project examined how artificial intelligence and location-aware technologies can help anticipate communication-quality problems and improve the reliability of real-time communication services.

Dr. Salam also served as a panelist for the session “Quantum-Inspired Computing on Real-Time AR/VR Augmented Infrastructure in Industries 5.0.” The panel brought together academic and industry perspectives on the potential application of quantum-inspired computing and augmented and virtual reality technologies within emerging Industry 5.0 environments.
The panelists included:
CSU’s participation in the conference highlighted the research accomplishments of its graduate Computer Science students, strengthened connections between academic research and industry, and increased the visibility of CIMST’s work in artificial intelligence, blockchain, real-time communications, AR/VR, and emerging computing technologies.
