Admissions & Audition

For admission into the Department of Music, prospective music majors are required to complete a music audition in her/his instrument or vocal area and complete a music theory placement examination.

Auditions and placement examinations are held throughout the year.

Auditions

Students should audition as early as possible for scholarship and financial aid consideration. 

All students who qualify may audition for and participate for credit, or without credit, in the various performance ensembles sponsored by the Department. 

Conditional Admission

Applicants who do not meet the minimum admissions standards may be admitted conditionally. When conditionally admitted, a student is required to improve upon any identified weaknesses within the first year. If the student can prove they have improved, they will then be fully admitted to the program.
