The Illinois Center for Equity in Education will focus on three key strategies:
Research & Data
The Center will generate and analyze data to monitor progress and identify effective
interventions for Black students. Initial activities include:
- Creating infrastructure for enhanced data collection and analysis.
- Publishing disaggregated data on student progress and the impact of interventions.
- Partnering with educational and community organizations to track and report on equity
goals.
Policy & Practice
The Center will develop and advocate for policies that enhance Black student access
and success. This includes:
- Addressing affordability challenges..
- Supporting student well-being with culturally competent mental health services.
- Strengthening connections between education and career opportunities.
Cross-Sector Collaboration
The Center will maintain a framework for ongoing collaboration among stakeholders,
including:
- An Advisory Council to guide strategic initiatives.
- Working Groups to implement the Action Plan's recommendations.
- Hosting conferences and briefings to disseminate findings and engage key constituencies.
