Chemistry Camp

Reserve your spot! 1.) Do you want to experience what it is like to participate in scientific research? 2.) Do you want learn how professional research groups work? 3.) Do you want to meet other high school students from Chicago and Hilo, HI. A six-week laboratory experience for high school students to explore careers in the field of chemistry.   Participants in this camp will receive hands on training on modern chemical instrumentation and instruction on conducting a research project.  The two groups will conduct a joint research project.  Weekly group meetings between the Chicago and Hilo groups will be used to build relationships, design experiments, discuss results as well as talk about the ups and downs of scientific research and major learning takeaways.

Time:	10:00am to 3:00pm (Wed - Thurs)
Who:	11th & 12th grade students

Requirements

In order to qualify for Chicago-Hilo High School Sumer Research Experience Sponsored by BESI:

• Have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
• Submit a completed application to rrichter@csu.edu
• Submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher (preferably a science teacher) or guidance counselor emailed from reference to rrichter@csu.edu
• Demonstrate an interest in chemistry or biology.
• Be able to work both independently and in groups.

Students accepted into the program must attend be able to committee to all six weeks and be able to attend the weekly zoom meetings in order to receive the participation stipend.
