Career Exploration Summer Camps at Chicago State University
We are excited to offer high school students the opportunity to engage in career exploration on our campus this summer with a choice of three in person pre-collegiate summer camps. Seats are limited so apply early! The camps will expose students to careers in engineering, education, and the health professions (for example, nursing, occupational therapy, and pharmacy). No previous experience is necessary to join the camps: just a curiosity to learn, explore new professions, and have fun!

Future Teachers Camp

When: June 19 - 22, 2023 (Mon to Thurs) Who: 9th-12th grade high school students Included: camp kit, t-shirt, field trip, snacks Are you good with kids? Do you know how to teach a kid to fingerpaint? Do you like to read stories to your little brother? Do you think learning is cool? Has a teacher made a difference in your life, and would you like to learn how to make a difference for the rest of your life? The Future Teacher’s Camp is a unique opportunity for high school students interested in becoming a teacher to have an up-close look at the teaching profession. In an effort to increase the number of Black and Brown teachers, this two-week camp will provide aspiring educators with engaging activities and learning experiences that help them to see themselves as future teachers. Health Professions Explorers Camp

When: July 10 to Aug 2, 2023, M-W, 9:00am to 1:00pm Who: 10th-12th grade high school students Included: t-shirt, field trip, snacks, swag bag Cost: $25 Are you a hero? Do you have a helping heart? Are you compassionate? Can you react quickly to emergency situations? Would you like to learn more about careers in the health professions? This four-week camp will expose you to practicing professionals in different health fields. Campers will learn through activities based on realistic health scenarios, and participate in interactive learning projects geared to help you envision yourself as a future healthcare professional in a high demand career.

PREP Future Engineers Camp
When: TBD, M-Th, 8am to 2pm Who: 6th-12th grade students Included: t-shirt, field trips The six-week summer camp introduces students to the engineering profession and provides them with the math and science skills needed to succeed in an engineering major in college. This summer, campers will participate in a STEAM for Social Justice curriculum and learn how engineers address health and well-being challenges on a local level.
