Mission

ILSAMP activities enhance the growth of the STEM community and promote linkages and partnerships in undergraduate STEM education throughout the state of Illinois to respond to the National Science Foundation's efforts to cultivate a world class, broadly inclusive and diverse science and engineering workforce, and expand general scientific literacy. In order to accomplish these objectives, the Alliance utilizes sustained and comprehensive strategies to achieve STEM student success, scientific knowledge and retention in their respective programs.

Program Goals

The ILSAMP program focuses on expanding or broadening participation by increasing the number of underrepresented students who:

1. Choose and persist in the STEM academic disciplines
2. Attend graduate school and pursue a graduate degree in STEM field.
3. Are prepared for a professional career in the STEM disciplines.
