Classroom Studios

The Art & Design program has large, accessible studios; secure student storage; and state-of-the-art creative technology, tools, and equipment. Many Art & Design courses are open for non-majors and some fulfill CSU general education requirements.

Design & Photography

Two studios with 25 Mac computers, large-format printers, photo lights, DSLR cameras, and darkroom. Adobe Creative Suite available for Design & Photo students. Design students are required to have a laptop.

Painting & Drawing

Flexible space with drawing and painting easels, lighting, display space, and student storage for paper & tools. Drawing is required for all degree majors. 

 

CSU Art and Design Fiber Arts Weaving studio with 3 students creating fiber arts

Fiber Arts & Weaving

One of the only university fiber arts & weaving studios in Chicago, featuring one 24-harness digital AVL dobby, six 4-harness, six 8-harness, and eight tapestry looms; sewing machines; and a dyeing facility.

Printmaking

Spacious, well-ventilated studio for relief, intaglio, lithography, and silkscreen printing; with etching press, combination press, lithography press, litho stones, and light exposure unit.

Ceramics

Large, well-lit studio with clay mixer, slab roller, glaze kitchen, slip mixer, throwing wheels, benches, electric, gas, and raku kilns.

Expansive studio with wood shop, metal shop, welding, hoist crane, 3D printers, external garage door, and metalsmithing equipment.
