Visiting or Non-Degree Seeking Students

Whether you want to earn a few extra credits, master a new skill or explore a new subject, Chicago State University has an option for you.

Visiting students are non-degree seeking undergraduate students who enroll at CSU on a temporary basis. This option is ideal if you are:

Focusing on professional development by taking courses to boost your resume
Visiting from another university and want to transfer credits back to your home institution
Participating in a special certificate program instead of a full degree track

How it works

As a visiting student (or non-degree seeking student), you can enroll in up to 30 semester credit hours. If you decide Chicago State is the place for you and want to continue your education beyond those 30 hours, you’ll need to apply for admission as a degree-seeking student.

Important: As a visiting student, you won’t be eligible for:

Financial aid (however, VA benefits may apply)
Course credit evaluation
Degree audit
Academic advising

Application Deadlines

The completed application and all supporting documents must be on file in the Office of Admissions by the dates listed below. However, early application is strongly recommended.

Application Requirements

To apply as a visiting student, you will need to provide the $25.00 non-refundable application fee and one of the following documents to verify good academic standing:

Official or unofficial college/university transcript OR a letter of good standing from your current Registrar or Dean
Recent grade statement showing a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale

NOTE: Some courses require university assessment exams. Please consult the undergraduate catalog for specific requirements. Certain courses may require additional approval.
