Council on Teacher Education - This is the teacher education governing body to make mutual decisions and policies overseeing teacher education programs housed in the College of Education and the College of Arts & Sciences. The Council membership consists of depts. chairs in COE and CAS, faculty program coordinators, directors of licensure and field experience and the deans of COE and CAS serve as co-chairs. The Council meets once or twice a semester.
Dean’s Council - The Dean’s Council is the internal decision making and governing council for teacher education programs. It is chaired by the COE dean and membership consists of three department chairs, director of licensure services, director of community outreach and field placement services, and director of the Kanis Child Development Center. The Dean’s Council meets once a month and weekly as necessary.
College of Education Scholarship Committee - The College of Education Scholarship Committee is charged with recommending qualified teacher education candidates for academic and need-base scholarships. The Committee consists of three faculty members, representing one from each of the three departments, and is chaired by one of them. The COE Scholarship Committee decides which applicants meet the criteria for being awarded scholarships for the Call Me Mister and Diverse Scholars in Education Programs, as well as Grow Your Own and Golden Apple Scholarships. In addition, the COE Scholarship Ad Hoc Committee includes someone from the Financial Aid Office and Graduate College, as well as COE Program Directors and/or Department Chairs and COE Dean. This committee convenes as necessary, to involve other faculty, staff and administrators in the scholarship awards consideration.
