Transferring to CSU

Hi everyone, my name is Alejandra, but feel free to call me Alex! I serve as the Transfer Relations Specialist for Chicago State University (CSU) in the office of undergraduate admissions. I have been at CSU as an employee for 2 years, however, I was also a student! I started my undergraduate career at CSU in 2012 and graduated in 2017 with my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. I was fortunate enough to jump on the CSU Admissions team  in 2018. I love working at CSU because I get to share all the great things this institution has to offer, my experiences as a student, and most importantly I get to be a part of a students transition to a four-year institution!

“To be happy we must not be too concerned with others” by Albert Camus is one of my favorite quotes. In order to truly be happy I definitely believe we need to focus on what one has and not compare it to others. I feel that we all struggle with finding happiness and we think we will eventually find that everlasting happiness. My advice from a former student is that you will not always be happy we will have those days where we are sad, but there wouldn’t be happy days without sad days so keep pushing through those rough days because at the end of the day it will all be worth it. Always remember, at the end of your day reflect on ONLY the good things that happened. From one student to another, you got this!

Some fun facts about me. I love Latin dancing and I have won a dance contest and earned some pretty great prizes! Dancing is definitely a way of destressing for me. I also love to thrift!. I have gone to thrift stores and have found some great name brand things for very cheap! I love to thrift because of all the great things I get to find and because it’s recycling and helps reduce the production of new textiles. Last but not least, In 2018 I was the cover student for the 2018 CSU Spring Catalog! I am a proud Alumni of CSU who is now part of the great faculty and staff.
